I NEED A MOMENT TO THINK Artist Statement
This piece explores the interior landscape of a woman’s mind—where thought, emotion, and external pressures converge. The figure sits in a familiar thinking pose, grounded and still, while above her, chaos unfolds, reflecting the contrast between outward composure and inner movement.
Layered, collaged fabrics mirror the way thoughts build—overlapping, fragmented, and complex. Vibrant colors suggest richness of experience, while their disjointed arrangement hints at overwhelm. Free-motion stitching in black thread moves across the surface like restless thinking, both holding the piece together and emphasizing tension.
Through textile and thread, this piece gives form to the unseen—an expression of mental noise, emotional weight, and the quiet need for stillness.
